Set a safe zone around your home

  1. Put your home in the circle

    On the Set a safe zone screen, the map starts where your phone is. Drag the map until your home sits in the middle of the circle, or tap Search Location and choose your address.

    The map isn’t showing your home?

    Tap Search Location, start typing your address and tap it in the list. The map moves there, and you can drag it to fine-tune the spot.

  2. Choose a size

    Tap 50 m, 75 m, 100 m or 200 m, or drag the Radius slider for a size in between, up to 200 m from its centre. It starts at 50 m. Check the circle takes in your home and garden.

    Create a virtual fence

    TipNeed a bigger area, or more than one safe zone? Later, from Settings › Virtual Fence, you can make fences that reach up to 1 km from their centre.

    Save safe zone is greyed out?

    The map is still loading. Wait a moment for it to appear, and the button comes on.

  3. Save it, or skip for now

    Tap Save safe zone, and it’s saved as a virtual fence called Home. Or tap Skip for now to add one later. Either way, “Congratulations! Welcome to Waggi” appears: tap Go to Home to finish.

    TipTo move, resize or rename Home later, go to Settings › Virtual Fence.

    An error appeared when you tapped Save safe zone or Skip for now?

    Check your phone has a mobile or Wi-Fi connection, then tap the same button again. If you close the app instead, it opens on this screen next time, so you can finish then.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip the safe zone?

Yes. Tap Skip for now, then Go to Home on the welcome message. You can add one any time from Settings › Virtual Fence, or tap Set up virtual fence on the Home screen.

How big can the safe zone be?

Tap 50 m, 75 m, 100 m or 200 m, or drag the Radius slider for a size in between, up to 200 m from its centre. It starts at 50 m. If you need a bigger area, you can later make it reach up to 1 km from its centre, or add more fences, from Settings › Virtual Fence.

Will I get an alert when my dog leaves it?

Yes, if Escape Alerts are on. Go to Settings › Notifications and switch on Escape Alerts (during setup, it’s under Notifications on the Permission screen). Also make sure Waggi can send notifications in your phone’s settings.
