At a glance
Your dog’s profile is where Waggi keeps what you told it during setup: their photo, name, breed and birthday, their gender, body condition, neutered status and weight. You’ll find it on the Profile tab, the last tab in the app.
Some of these details do real work. Weight sets the calories your dog burns and their food portion, and height, which you add after setup, lets walks measure distance from their steps. Keep them up to date and the numbers stay right.
What’s on the Profile tab
Your dog’s profile is on the Profile tab, the last tab in the app. From top to bottom, it shows your dog’s details, then their tracker and food portion.
- Settings
- The gear at the top right opens the app’s Settings.
- Your dog’s photo
- The photo you added, or a picture of a dog until you add one.
- Name, gender and breed
- Tap the pencil next to their name to change any of their details.
- Age, Weight and Height
- Age is worked out from their birthday. Height shows 0 until you add it.
- Details, Reminders and Leaderboard
- Details is open. Reminders and Leaderboard say “Coming soon!” for now.
- Tracker ID
- Your tracker and its battery level. Tap it to open Tracker Settings. Shown once a tracker is paired.
- Food Portion Calculator
- Tap Let’s start to work out how many calories your dog needs each day. Needs a paired tracker, because it uses how active your dog has been.
Changing your dog’s details
On the Profile tab, tap the pencil next to your dog’s name to open Pet Details. Change what you need, then tap Save. Save stays greyed out until you change something. When it’s done, the app says “Pet Profile updated successfully”.
On the Pet Details card
- Photo
- Tap the pencil on the photo, choose Take a photo or Choose photo, then crop it to a square. JPEG or PNG, up to 2 MB: the app makes large photos smaller for you.

- Date of Birth
- Tap it to pick their birthday.
- Gender
- Female or Male.
On the Health Details card
- Breed Type
- Tap it and search for their breed.

- Health Procedure
- Tick Neutered/Spayed if they are.
What each detail is used for
Weight and height change the numbers you see, so update them when your dog changes, like after a weigh-in at the vet.
- Weight
- Works out the calories your dog burns, on walks and through the day, and their food portion.
- Height
- Lets walks measure distance from your dog’s steps. Without it, walks measure distance with your phone’s GPS.
- Birthday and neutered status
- Along with weight and how active your dog has been, they set the Food Portion Calculator’s recommendation.
- Body condition score
- Saved with their profile, but it doesn’t change calories or food portions at the moment.
- Breed and gender
- Shown on the Profile tab. They don’t change any numbers.
Different situations
- Save is greyed out
- You haven’t changed anything yet. Change a detail and Save turns on.
- It says “Enter valid weight” or “Enter valid height”
- Type a number above zero, using a full stop for decimals, like 12.5.
- A message about the photo appears
- The photo needs to be a JPEG or PNG of up to 2 MB. Choose a different photo and try again.
- You switched between kg and lbs
- The number doesn’t change, only the unit. Type the weight again in the unit you chose.
- The food portion hasn’t changed after a new weight
- It’s worked out when you run the calculator. Tap the pencil on the Food Portion Calculator card and go through it again.
- You want to add a second dog
- Each account has one dog’s profile for now, so there’s no way to add another. If setup is done again on the same account, the new profile replaces the old one.

Frequently asked questions
Changing your dog’s profile
How do I change my dog’s details?
On the Profile tab, tap the pencil next to your dog’s name. On Pet Details you can change their photo, name, birthday, gender, breed, weight, height, body condition and neutered status. Then tap Save.
How do I change my dog’s photo?
On the Profile tab, tap the pencil next to your dog’s name. On Pet Details, tap the pencil on the photo, choose Take a photo or Choose photo, crop it to a square, then tap Save. You can replace the photo this way, but not remove it at the moment.
How do I add my dog’s height?
Setup doesn’t ask for it. On the Profile tab, tap the pencil next to your dog’s name, then type their Height on Pet Details, measured at the shoulder. Tap cm or in to match, then tap Save.
Does switching between kg and lbs convert the weight?
No. The kg and lbs buttons change the unit, not the number. If you switch, type the weight again in the new unit. Height works the same way with cm and in.
What the details are used for
What does my dog’s weight change?
The calories your dog burns, on walks and through the day, and the recommendation in the Food Portion Calculator. Update it after each weigh-in. The food portion is worked out when you run the calculator, so run it again after a big change.
Why does my dog’s height show 0?
You haven’t added it yet: setup doesn’t ask for it. Until you do, walks measure distance with your phone’s GPS instead of from your dog’s steps. Add it on Pet Details, measured at the shoulder.
Does the body condition score change anything?
Not at the moment. It’s saved with your dog’s profile, but it doesn’t change calories or food portions. You can update it on Pet Details whenever their shape changes.
Dogs on your account
Can I have more than one dog on my account?
Not at the moment. Each Waggi account has one dog’s profile, with one tracker, and there’s no way to add a second. If setup is done again on the same account, the new profile replaces the old one.
Can I add a cat?
Not at the moment. Waggi profiles are for dogs.
