At a glance
Your Waggi tracker is made to be worn every day, out in all weathers. A little care keeps it clean, comfortable for your dog and charging properly.
Rain and splashes on a walk shouldn’t be a problem. To be safe, take it off before your dog swims or has a bath, and always dry it before it goes on the charging pad.
Water and weather
It’s made to be worn outdoors, so rain and splashes on a walk shouldn’t be a problem.
Being underwater is different. Until you know for sure, take the tracker off before your dog swims, has a bath or goes to the groomer’s. Remember it can’t show where your dog is while it’s off.
Quick guide
- Rain and puddles
- Wipe it dry when you get home.
- Swimming
- Take it off first, whether it’s the sea, a lake, a river or a pool.
- Baths and grooming
- Take it off first. Shampoo, hot water and dryers aren’t good for it.
- Sea or pool water
- If it gets splashed, wipe it with a cloth dampened with fresh water, then dry it.
Cleaning the tracker and pad
Clean the tracker when it gets muddy or grubby. It only takes a minute.
How to clean it
- Take it off the collar
- So you can reach every side, and clean the collar at the same time.
- Wipe it
- Use a soft cloth dampened with plain water. Don’t soak it or hold it under a tap.
- Dry it completely
- Use a dry, soft cloth, then leave it to air-dry at room temperature before you charge it or put it back on.
- Clean the pad
- Unplug it first, then wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. Keep it dry, and never put it in water.
Drying before charging
Always dry the tracker before you put it on the charging pad, especially its underside, the part that sits on the pad. Water between the tracker and the pad can stop it charging.
Keep the pad, its cable and the USB charger indoors and dry, like any charger plugged into the wall. If the light doesn’t come on once everything is dry, follow “The tracker won’t turn on or charge” under Troubleshooting.
Heat, cold and storage
Like a phone, the tracker’s battery doesn’t like extremes. Keep it out of hot places, such as a car in the sun, a sunny windowsill or near a radiator or fire, and charge it at room temperature.
If you won’t use it for a while, charge it first and keep it somewhere cool and dry, and top it up every so often. If the battery runs nearly flat, the tracker turns itself off to protect it, without a light. Put it on the charging pad to turn it back on.
What to avoid
- Soaking it
- Don’t put it in water or hold it under a running tap or a hose.
- Cleaning products
- No soap, shampoo, sprays, alcohol, wipes with chemicals or anything abrasive.
- Heat to dry it
- No hairdryer, radiator, oven or microwave. Let it dry at room temperature.
- Charging it wet
- Dry the tracker and the pad first.
- Opening it
- Don’t try to open the case, or poke anything into the gaps round the button.
- Chewing
- Keep it out of reach of your dog and other dogs when it isn’t on their collar.
